@letslearnaboutscience is a free online resource created to help kids and families explore science outside the classroom. Rooted in curiosity and creativity, our mission is to make STEM learning joyful and doable-even if you’re not a scientist.
We focus on basic chemistry and science concepts that parents and children can learn together using materials already found at home. Whether you homeschool, supplement classroom learning, or simply want to inspire a love of science in your child, @letslearnaboutscience gives you the tools to build that foundation-one experiment at a time.

How It Started
@letslearnaboutscience was founded by Dr. Stephanie Ryan in 2020 during the global pandemic. As a science educator and mom, she found herself feeling unexpectedly unsure about how to teach science to her preschooler at home. If she-with her background-felt overwhelmed, how must other parents feel?
That moment sparked an idea.
She launched @letslearnaboutscience on Instagram to give parents the tools and confidence to learn about science alongside their kids. What began as a simple experiment quickly grew into a vibrant platform with videos, activity ideas, and STEM insights shared across Instagram,
TikTok, and Facebook, all designed to make science feel approachable, doable, and fun-no degree required.
Meet Dr. Stephanie Ryan
Dr. Stephanie is a mother, educator, author, and STEM communicator. She holds a Ph.D. in Learning Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is the founder of Ryan Education Consulting LLC, where she develops curriculum and assessments for leading publishers.
She’s the author of Let’s Learn About Chemistry, a playful introduction to chemistry for young children. Inspired by her son Charlie, the book brings science concepts to life in a way that’s both engaging and empowering for kids and parents.
She’s passionate about helping families see the science already happening around them and making it feel possible and fun to explore together.
Dr. Stephanie has appeared on TV, radio, podcasts, and blogs, and her work has contributed to leading science education projects like The Connected Chemistry Curriculum and Chemistry in Context.
