LEGO Robotics at University High School Summer Camps

In LEGO® Robotics Camp, young coders and engineers will bring their creations to life using LEGO® Spike robotics kits, motors, sensors, and beginner-friendly programming tools. Campers learn how robots move, react, and complete tasks as they design, build, and program their own working models throughout the week.

No prior coding experience is required, and no personal tablet is needed—all materials are provided. This camp is perfect for kids who love experimenting, building, and discovering how technology works.

Campers explore coding through Scratch Tiles and Word Blocks, which allow even first-time coders to confidently build programs that control movement, lights, and sensors. Students who already have advanced experience may choose to work in Python, but it is completely optional and not formally taught. This camp is self-paced, giving every student the freedom to learn in the way that best fits them. Campers may follow step-by-step build instructions or free-code their robots, exploring robotics in creative and meaningful ways. Stephanie is present to support, answer questions, and encourage problem-solving—without directing or rushing the learning process.

Throughout the week, campers spend time building, coding, testing, and improving their robots. There is also dedicated free-build time, where students can customize their robots with extra bricks and let their creativity shine. Families receive a weekly online photo album showcasing campers’ robots, coding projects, and learning moments.

Equipment Note: LEGO® robotics kits include motors, sensors, and other delicate components. Because this equipment is valuable and shared among campers, students must be able to handle it responsibly and take the work seriously.
